It is your favorite volleyball player/underwear model/freelance writer Ryan Doherty. (AKA Avatar, AKA White Chocolate, AKA Tater Salad) The AVP realized that there was no point in updating their website unless I was going to be producing original content for them, so after much begging, (and a flattering but frankly inappropriate proposition from AVP Tournament Director Jeff Conover) I have decided to do a weekly submission for called "Tuesdays with Avatar".

Jeff is currently the first assistant at CSUN for the Men's Volleyball Team, after having played for CSUN from 2003-2005.He was captain of the CSUN team in 2005 and made the 2005 All-Tournament-Team-Can-Am-Challenge in Alberta, Canada. Prior to his transfer to CSUN, he played for Grossmont College (2001-2003), where he made All-State Honors in both seasons.Jeff graduated from CSUN with a degree in Business Administration (Marketing) in 2006.He has been an AVP member since 2005.

Jeff Conover begins his first season as Jeff Campbell's top assistant at Cal State Northridge in 2007.
A two-year member of the Northridge men's volleyball team, Conover played on two Matador MPSF Tournament squads in 2004 and 2005.In 2005, Northridge reached the semifinals of the MPSF Tournament before ultimately falling in four games at top-ranked Pepperdine.Conover finished the 2005 season with a team-high 1,346 assists which ranked ninth in the MPSF and 12th in the nation.He wound up his two-year Matador career with 1,351 assists which ranks eighth on the Northridge career assists list.
Conover also brings the experience of working as an assistant coach for the boys volleyball team at University of San Diego High School in 2001 and, in addition to Northridge, is in his first season coaching with the Sportshack Volleyball Club girls squad and the Santa Monica Beach Club boys team.
Born in San Diego, Calif., Conover was an all-league player in both volleyball and basketball at University of San Diego High School.He earned his associate of arts degree from Grossmont College in 2003 before enrolling at Cal State Northridge.He earned his bachelor's degree in marketing from Northridge in 2006.
Jeff is single and currently resides in Santa Monica.

Jeff Conover Named Men's Volleyball Assistant Coach
Cal State Northridge head men's volleyball coach Jeff Campbell has announced the naming of Jeff Conover as his top assistant coach.
Conover replaces Dan Conners who accepted a position as an assistant coach with the UCLA women's volleyball team.
"We're excited to have Jeff join our coaching staff" said Campbell.
A 2006 graduate of Cal State Northridge, Conover was the Matadors' setter when Northridge finished 19-14 and reached the semifinals of the MPSF Tournament in 2005.That season, he averaged 12.46 assists per game and also earned All-Tournament honors at the Can-Am Challenge in Alberta, Canada in the Fall of 2004.Conover played in a total of 46 matches and 150 games during his Matador career and has since gone on to compete on the 2006 AVP Professional Beach Volleyball Tour.He also brings one year of coaching experience after serving as an assistant coach at University of San Diego High School in 2001.Conover graduated from University of San Diego High School in 2000 and earned his associate of arts degree from Grossmont College in 2003.
