WAFF-48 Meteorologist Jeff Castle said temperatures during the early part of the week are expected to be the highest since New Year's Day, with partly cloudy skies and highs in the low 40s.
He said a cold front moving through Monday gave the area one last shot of bitterly cold air, and snow flurries are even possible today. Highs today are expected to be only in the mid-30s, but skies are expected to be mostly sunny. Castle said the good news is that temperatures are expected to moderate by Wednesday, with highs reaching the upper 40s. He said, by Thursday, highs should climb above 50 for the first time since Christmas. By the weekend, Castle said some rain could be back in the area and temperatures will be chilly, but nothing like the bitterly cold conditions that gripped the DeKalb area for the past several days. He said highs this weekend are expected to be in the 40s.
