CONGRATULATIONS TO JEANINE SOMMERS Jeanine Sommers
, a resident of Elmwood Park, New Jersey, came to Community Blood Services
in October of 1999.While waiting for a friend who was donating platelets Jeanine
struck up a conversation with our canteen volunteer.That evening she
would fill out a volunteer application, and she
has been volunteering in our canteen ever since. Jeanine
was born in Jersey City and moved to Wood Ridge when she
was four.She graduated from Wood Ridge High School and took her first job as cashier for Shop Rite in Hasbrouck Heights.After attending Berkley Secretarial School she went on to Bloomfield College. At the age of 21, Jeanine went to work for Reckitt & Coleman in Wayne, where she started out as a secretary.Jeanine worked her way up to the position of quality engineer at the company, now called Reckitt Benckiser.
The company features products such as Lysol
, French's mustard and many other consumer household items.From time to time, Jeanine travels in the course of her
business. Jeanine is a member of the American Society of Quality Management and the American Product and Inventory Control Society.
A member of St. Leo's Church
in Elmwood Park, Jeanine loves to cook and try out new restaurants.She
also loves shopping, tennis and is a New York Yankee fan.Jeanine
also is an animal lover. Jeanine
works in our donor canteen seeing to the needs of our blood donors.She
serves coffee, juice and cookies to our donors, while making sure they feel well before leaving the blood center.You can find Jeanine
working in the canteen on Monday evenings.She
has a very warm and hospitable charm and makes our donors feel at home.Community Blood Services
is grateful for her
commitment to volunteerism.
