Jeane Rhodes
Jeane Rhodes, PhD is a licensed professional counselor in the State of Colorado. She earned her PhD in Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology from The Union Institute in 1997, with dissertation research in body language and birth memory. Jeane worked in the foster care system for ten years in various capacities, including as a therapist for children in foster care and as executive director of a foster placement agency. Her novel, The Birth of Hope, is based on her experiences in the foster care system. The book also incorporates pre and perinatal psychology principals in this moving story of teen pregnancy in foster care. She joined APPPAH in 1989 and was active as a contributor to the journal and congress presenter. She became associate editor of JOPPPAH in 2002 and editor-in-chief in 2009. After a one-year break from active involvement in APPPAH, she returned as administrative hub for APPPAH and Managing Editor of the Journal in January, 2014. APPPAH's management consultant, Jeane Rhodes, PhD, spoke at the The International Society for Pre-and Perinatal Psychology and Medicine's World Congress on November 1, 2014 in Maastricht / Netherlands. "Jeane Rhodes, of APPPAH of the United States spoke and noted how many young people were at the conference. Dr. Bolt stated, "In my opinion this should be a major concern and goal of our association, to win as many young people and interested in our work and to bind them to ISPPM." ISPPM is an international, professional not-for-profit society registered in Germany . ISPPM's scientific study is the earliest phase of human development, focusing on lifelong effects from before, during and after birth. "It was my privilege to attend and present my research at the World Congress," said Rhodes. "Attending an ISPPM Congress has long been on my "bucket list" and when the announcement came last February, I immediately registered and was later asked to be APPPAH's representative." Rhodes' presented her research on "Body Language and Birth Memory," based on two research projects, one interviewing 2-3 year old children about their birth memories and later research with 5-9 year old children using body language as a. clue to their prenatal and birth experience. I am grateful for having had the opportunity to participate in that strengthening," said Rhodes.
