Jean Dorthy Landeen
Jean Landeen taught tropical fruit tree production in Guatemala with the Peace Corps after receiving a bachelor's degree at UC Davis.
Upon returning, she
entered the teacher preparation program, then taught horticulture in the early 1970s at Grace M. Davis High School
in Modesto, as one of the first female agriculture teachers in California.
She is an agricultural education consultant for the California Department of Education (24 years), and state coordinator of agricultural literacy.
is visionary in developing programs for beginning and veteran teachers that influence rural and urban communities.
opened doors for women in agriculture, and she
has been a role model to thousands of students and teachers.
Jean is active with the California Agricultural Teachers' Association, the Central Valley Agricultural Literacy Project, and the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom.
has dedicated her
career to the betterment of society through agriculture literacy and career technical education in agriculture.
