The fifth Dogs Deserve Better Chain Off will feature Wayne Sinclair from American Classifieds and Dog Cruces magazine, said the event's organizer, Jean Gilbert, humane and environmental educator for the Humane Society of Southern New Mexico.
"We do it to bring awareness to the plight of dogs that are chained, educate people and get people talking about it," Gilbert said. "Any animal is ready to go off like a grenade after living a life of deprivation," Gilbert said. Gilbert and Chavez do agree on one aspect of chaining or tethering dogs - how often and how many owners do it is hard to quantify.
