Jay Massart, Executive DirectorMassart, a well respected Milwaukee area tennis professional with a wide range of experience in both the sport and community service, took over as executive director in February.A native of the Milwaukee area who developed a passion for tennis at age 11, Massart is one of only three Wisconsin tennis coaches to achieve certification at the United Professional Tennis Association's highest classification, Master Professional.
In the last 10 years, Massart has been tournament director of over 50 tournaments, among them large events such as the Midwest Indoor Championships and the Wisconsin Closed.
In addition to executive director, Massart is the director of tennis at Milwaukee Country Club and a teaching professional at Mequon Racquet Club in the winter months.He is the president of the Wisconsin Tennis Association , a district of the USTA . Massart also serves as president of the Milwaukee Community Tennis Association , an umbrella organization developed to improve and assist in tennis growth in the Milwaukee community.
Jay, a three-time Wisconsin USPTA Pro of the Year, has held the No. 1 men's singles spot in the state twice.He recently completed the USA Tennis High Performance coaching program, certifying him as a top-level junior instructor.Massart is the head coach of the USA Competitive Training Center and a sectional NTRP Verifier.In March, Massart was named the 2001 USPTA Midwest Professional of the Year.
As executive director, Massart will oversee not only the annual tournament, but MTC's TEAM (Tennis, Education And Mentoring) program for inner city youth and its Milwaukee Public Schools Scholarship Program.Part of his big picture vision is to get the word out that the Milwaukee Classic Foundation is more than a collegiate tennis tournament."We're trying to reach our young people in this community and make a difference in their lives".

Jay Massart is responsible for the day-to-day operations of MTEF. Under Massart's leadership, MTEF has become a strong organization that impacts the tennis landscape in the Milwaukee area.
Winner of Wisconsin's prestigious Bill Letwin Award in 2001 and the USTA Eve Kraft Award in 2003, for contributions to the community and ongoing development of tennis, Massart began teaching the game he's played since childhood in 1983. He is his 19th summer as the director of tennis at Milwaukee Country Club, and he has been a teaching pro at the Elite Clubs for 15 years.
Massart is one of only three USPTA Master Professionals in Wisconsin. A member of the Midwest USPTA Hall of Fame, Massart is the current chair of the USTA NJTL National Committee and an at-large member of the WTA Management Committee.
