But one negative to keep in mind, the organization Jay works for, CBD, collaborated in and wrote the largest logging plan in the lower 48, called the Four Forests plan, logging or brutally "thinning" 2.5 million acres of trees 18 inches and under (the baby and future old growth) to protect 40,000 big old trees.

Jay Lininger
JAY LININGER Jay Lininger is a terrestrial ecologist with the Center for Biological Diversity, a non-profit organization based in Tucson, Arizona. He worked five seasons on private and federal fire and aviation crews as a wildland firefighter, helicopter crewmember and biologist, during which time he served as Legislative Director of Firefighters United for Safety, Ethics and Ecology (www.fusee.org). Jay consulted on precedent-setting lawsuits affecting management of public lands throughout the western United States and co-authored a Community Wildfire Protection Plan for the City of Ashland, Oregon, where he served on budget and watershed protection committees. Currently, he consults on the Four Forests Restoration Initiative to restore fire-adapted ponderosa pine forests on over four million acres in northern Arizona. Jay holds a B.A. from the University of Oregon and a M.S. from the University of Montana, where he was a Distinguished Conservation Fellow and received a Graduate Student Excellence Award from the Association for Fire Ecology.

Jay Lininger, Senior Scientist, devotes himself to public land and endangered species conservation in the western United States.
Jay is a certified fire ecologist and earned a master's degree from the University of Montana-Missoula, where he was a Duke conservation fellow and researched forest restoration effects. He has led intercollegiate debate teams and worked six seasons on federal and private forestry crews as a biologist and wildland firefighter.
