Jay R. Lerner
Jay R. Lerner is the President of The Lerner Company, a shopping center development, brokerage, leasing and management company located in Omaha, Nebraska.
Lerner graduated from Michigan State University, after which he began a career in the supermarket industry.
He later served as Director of Real Estate and Market Research for Supermarkets Interstate, a supermarket chain with stores throughout the country which was acquired by JC Penney.
Lerner's involvement with shopping centers has spanned a period of over 35 years.
During this period of time, he
has been involved with the development, leasing and management of over 70 shopping center projects covering a six-state area.
The Lerner Company
's first project opened in 1986.
The Company has now developed approximately 4 million square feet and its portfolio includes shopping centers in Nebraska, Iowa and Wisconsin.
The Company's newest projects include West Village Pointe, a 145 acre mixed-use development; Shadow Lake Towne Center
, an 870,000 square foot regional center; and Settler's Creek, a 250,000 square foot retail project.
Lerner is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and frequently is a panelist at ICSC meetings.
He is a past Nebraska/Iowa State Director for ICSC and formerly was the State Chairman of Public Relations and Community Service.
He also has served on the Executive Committee of ChainLinks Retail Advisors and was a member of their strategic planning committee.
Lerner has also served on the board of many community organizations including Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Nebraska Humane Society.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Omaha Sports Commission and the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet.
holds a real estate broker's license in Nebraska, Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota.
