Jasper can be heard at more than 17 CD and DVD productions. He performed in a.o. Belgium, Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, Hungary, Italy & Sardinia and Finland. Besides his career as a performer Jasper was appointed as a (guest) teacher at the conservatories in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht. He is the programmer of the foundation Jazz in Wageningen, at his hometown Wageningen (NL) and founder of the Wageningen Bass Academy.

Besides a performer double bassist & composer Jasper Somsen is also a teacher since 1998, having a broad and profound experience in all ranges of (modern) western music: Classic, Jazz, Pop and Latin American music. He was appointed at several music schools in The Netherlands and was the assistent classic double bass tutor at the Conservatory of Amsterdam (2002 -2007), teaching young talents,the preliminary and minor courses. He was a guest teacher at the Jazz dept. of the Rotterdam Conservatory and gave several masterclasses at the conservatories in Utrecht and Alkmaar (The Netherlands).
Since 2006 he founded his own Bass Academy in Wageningen and Veenendaal: an independent bass teaching practice for the double bassists and bass guitarists (all styles, ages and levels).
