Mr. Smeland oversees the design and permitting of various projects within the company. Mr. Smeland is also involved in the design of stormwater management systems, erosion and sedimentation control systems, site layout, grading, road improvements, feasibility studies and HEC-RAS flood studies. Mr. Smeland has also served as an expert witness at Special Exception, Conditional Use and Zoning Hearings.

Greenway was granted approval by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to amend the map, so the floodplain in question - which Smeland said was man-made due to a culvert and the railroad track that runs overtop of it - would no longer exist in that area.
