Father Jason Labbé | Father Labbé
Father Jason Labbé | Father Labbé Father Labbé Father Jason Labbé has been the pastor of St. Elizabeth and St. Jules since July 18, 2004. Born in 1969, the second of three children, Father Labbé grew up in Baton Rouge as a member of Most Blessed Sacrament parish . He discovered his vocation to the priesthood when he was a junior at Northwestern State and studying Veterinary Science. With the encouragement of a good priest, he turned to Jesus in sacrament of confession after years of being a "sloppy Catholic". His love for the Christ and the Church grew and he was able to hear God's call and to say "yes" to God's plan for his life. After a great struggle in trying to hide from God's call, he surrendered to God's will and applied to enter the seminary. He was accepted as a seminarian for the Diocese of Baton Rouge in 1994 and began his priestly formation at St. Joseph Seminary College in St. Benedict, Louisiana. In 1997, Bishop Hughes sent him to Rome to study Theology where he attended the Pontifical Gregorian University. He was ordained July, 6, 2001 and returned to Rome to complete a degree in sacramental theology at the University of San Anselmo. Father Labbé served as an associate pastor at St. John the Evangelist in Prairieville, LA for two years. He is now beginning his third year as pastor of St. Elizabeth and St. Jules. He loves his life as a priest and the people whom he serves, which is evident in the manner in which he opens the scriptures and teaches his flock the Truth of Christianity. On his days off he likes duck hunting, fishing, frogging, and taking care of his salt-water aquarium.
