Jared Lustman, Co-founder and Director
Coach Jared Lustman has been teaching Physical Education at Hillel for the past 4 years.
Jared has also served as Co-Director at Camp Hoops for the last three years, where he has greatly invigorated the summer program with his inimitable style of creativity, passion, and compassion.
He has a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Political Science from Towson University in Maryland and is currently pursuing his Master's degree in the field of Education.
Coach Jared moved to LA from Baltimore and has found that the Hillel community is truly a vibrant population of children eager to learn and to produce.
While it is commonplace for children to want to "win" as a primary motivator, he
has also discovered that the Hillel
children are also just as eager to learn lessons that they can take from the field of athletics and apply them productively to their lives moving forward.
This is what Jared accomplished back in Baltimore with his
highly successful summer program that he
brother founded under the name of the "Fighting Davids Institute
is committed to providing those lessons to our children.
Over the years, Coach Jared has found that what children think of themselves often determines what they make of themselves.
is also committed to giving each child every ounce of his
energy so that they know that he
believes in them individually as well as collectively.
has been greatly impressed with the spirit of our Hillel
children, which is so vividly displayed not just after victories, but after tough losses as well.
This attitude goes a long way to producing a genuine culture of "winning," which Jared
envisions as becoming permanently imbedded in our community.
, "winning" does not just mean achieving the higher score, but, most importantly, acquiring an attitude of aiming high and not settling for, or giving anything less than your best, both on and off the court.
