Jane Hall Harmon, born in Jackson, Mississippi, grew up in Louisiana where she gained an appreciation of fine foods in restaurants, her own family's kitchen and other fine cooks in an area plentiful of wild game, fresh seafood and locally grown herbs and vegetables.
After attending Louisiana State University, Harmon worked for Delta Airlines out of New Orleans, then moved to Washington, D.C. to work for now-retired Senator John Breaux.
From that point on Jane became a part-time caterer and continued her real estate career.
In December 2004 she
real estate license in inactive status and began The Baton Rouge Chef, Inc.
, a full time catering company.
Thanks to the support of her
many fine friends, old and new, and the real need for a new menu in the Augusta area, The Baton Rouge Chef is a surprising little gem and growing fast.
When asked recently by a client what is making the business so successful, Jane
said, "I want the food to be fresh, different and fabulous.
As The Baton Rouge Chef grows Jane
will travel to Louisiana often to buy specialty food items, gather new recipes from restaurants and friends and return to the Augusta area with the stories she
loves to share of Cajun lore and the history of certain food items.
