BACK row Rugby League forward Jane became only the second woman to win Warrington Sports Personality's main award.
And how she had deserved her special recognition by Warrington Guardian readers who had voted for her.
Jane had been voted player of the series for Great Britain in November 2000's inaugural World Series.
Jane and her team had finished as world runners-up after losing to New Zealand in a tense final at Wilderspool Stadium.
Much of the 2000/2001 season had been put on hold for the World Series but fitness fanatic Jane had ended the 1999/2000 term in great style.
The 22-year-old postwoman had been voted, after a terrific defensive display, player of the match as her club Hindley Pumas had ended the 10-year Challenge Cup reign of Wakefield Panthers.
There were numerous other player of the match performances during the season and at the end of year awards for her club Jane, a Warrington Wolves supporter, had been handed the top tackler trophy.
Speaking in an overwhelmed state, after receiving the award, she revealed that it had come as a big surprise.
