is now a Corporal.
his is a real milestone being a Marine, not only because it is a grade thatneeds to be earnedbut now he is an officer and he will be able to wear the coveted “blood stripes†on his dress blue trousers that commemorates a battle in the Mexican American War.
will also now be able to wear the sword that commemorates the victory at Tripoli.
stays busy doing overwatch security for Iraqi work parties and going out on post.
e says that the work hours are not long and that he
is eating well.
is not to say it is some kind of easy street, but it is a huge contrast from his
last tour there for which we are very thankful.
And for the best news of all, James’ wife Amanda gave birth to their baby girl on July 6.The baby is healthy and strong.
weighed 6 lbs.
7 oz and 20 inches in length.
hile Amanda was in recovery and had not yet even held the baby, James
called Amanda on her
timing was incredible considering he
knew nothing about her
being in labor and also he
had not talked to Amanda for several days due to temporary restriction that was put in place on making calls.
true joyful time for all.
They named the baby Evelyn after a dear old saint that James thought so much of while growing up in our former church at Grand Valley.
f course it does not hurt either that it is just a beautiful name.
f Evelyn could meet James
(“Jimmyâ€) today I think that she
would be most of all surprised of how James
has not really changed so much from that time, despite being a full grown hard core Marine.
The next few months
anticipates that he
will be back in the States by Thanksgiving.
We do not know who all plans on meeting him when he
gets off the bus in Twenty-Nine Palms but a number of family members are hoping then will be able to.
We ask that you continue to pray for James
protection and his
safe return.Pray for Amanda that she
may be comforted during his
absence and for Evelyn and her
continued health.Thank God for answered prayer for His
protecting and guiding hand upon James
thus far.Thank Him for the good news that is coming out of this part of Iraq and that this peace and security may spread throughout the rest of Iraq.
