Quillen VA Center, Mountain HomeHe was owner and operator of Ward Shoe Shop in Rogersville for 30 years and also a dairy and tobacco farmer.He was a native of Hawkins County ; a veteran of World War II, serving as a military policeman stationed in Hawaii ; a member of American Legion Post # 64 ; and an avid fisherman and hunter.He was a member of Marion Robinette Memorial Baptist Church and enjoyed life and always found a way to make people smile.He was preceded in death by a son, James Lee (Jimmy) Ward ; parents, Walter and Eliza Ann (Sis) Ward ; and a sister, Vivian Richards.He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Louise M. Ward ; two daughters and sons-in-law, Agnes Juanice (Aggie) and Guy F. Warner, Bulls Gap, Tina Denice and Michael R. Brown, Chuckey ; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, George Ward, Talbott, Roy and Edith Ward, Rogersville, Rev. Dewey and Erma Ward, Kingsport ; and several special nieces and nephews.The funeral service will be held 8 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2000, at Doughty-Stevens Chapel, Greeneville, with Rev. John Arnott officiating.Interment will take place 2 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2000, at Providence Cemetery at County Line.Friends are asked to meet 2 p.m. Monday at the cemetery for the graveside service.Nephews and great-nephews will serve as active pallbearers.
