GREENEVILLE -- James Reece Ward, age 85, Greeneville, died Friday, March 3, 2000, at James H. Quillen VA Center, Mountain Home
He was owner and operator of Ward Shoe Shop in Rogersville for 30 years and also a dairy and tobacco farmer.
He was a native of Hawkins County ; a veteran of World War II, serving as a military policeman stationed in Hawaii ; a member of American Legion Post # 64 ; and an avid fisherman and hunter.
He was a member of Marion Robinette Memorial Baptist Church and enjoyed life and always found a way to make people smile.
He was preceded in death by a son, James Lee (Jimmy) Ward ; parents, Walter and Eliza Ann (Sis) Ward ; and a sister, Vivian Richards.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Louise M. Ward ; two daughters and sons-in-law, Agnes Juanice (Aggie) and Guy F. Warner, Bulls Gap, Tina Denice and Michael R. Brown, Chuckey ; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, George Ward, Talbott, Roy and Edith Ward, Rogersville, Rev. Dewey and Erma Ward, Kingsport ; and several special nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held 8 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2000, at Doughty-Stevens Chapel, Greeneville, with Rev. John Arnott officiating.Interment will take place 2 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2000, at Providence Cemetery at County Line.Friends are asked to meet 2 p.m. Monday at the cemetery for the graveside service.
Nephews and great-nephews will serve as active pallbearers.
