Dr. James Stiehl
, who grew up in Tuscola and practices general orthopedics in Centralia, was recently invited to lecture at Harvard University
The topic involved his
work studying ligament balancing in total knee replacement surgery.
Stiehl was also a guest of the Biomechanics Laboratory, where he taught Harvard residents and fellows on his advancement in computer-aided ligament balancing during knee surgery.
Stiehl is editor-in-chief of The Knee, an international journal publishing studies on the clinical treatment and fundamental biomechanical characteristics of the knee.
He is chief of surgery at St. Mary's Hospital, Centralia.
