Dr. James Stiehl, an orthopedic surgeon with offices in Champaign and Centralia, was invited to give the Adrian Henry Plenary on knee conditions at the annual meeting of the British Orthopaedic Association in Birmingham, England. His topic was "Basic Science of Ligament Balancing in Total Knee Replacement." Stiehl is editor-in-chief of The Knee, a scientific journal published by the British Association for Surgery of the Knee.

Stiehl invited to lecture at Harvard.
Dr. James Stiehl, who grew up in Tuscola and practices general orthopedics in Centralia, was recently invited to lecture at Harvard University. The topic involved his work studying ligament balancing in total knee replacement surgery. Stiehl was also a guest of the Biomechanics Laboratory, where he taught Harvard residents and fellows on his advancement in computer-aided ligament balancing during knee surgery. Stiehl is editor-in-chief of The Knee, an international journal publishing studies on the clinical treatment and fundamental biomechanical characteristics of the knee. He is chief of surgery at St. Mary's Hospital, Centralia.
