In addition, Receiver Stefanich encourages residents who recently purchased a home, condominium or co-op unit, or just refinanced or transferred the mortgage on their property, to be sure that notification in writing is sent to James J. Stefanich, Receiver of Taxes, Town of Oyster Bay, 74 Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay, NY 11771-1539.
"This will ensure that tax bills are received promptly by the homeowner," Receiver Stefanich said."A homeowner relying on a bank or mortgage company to notify the tax office may find there is a delay in billing the homeowner directly, which can lead to the imposition of a late payment penalty.
