"We really wanted to deliver for everyone at Spyder this weekend," stated GMG team owner and driver James Sofronas.

For James Sofronas, his consistency in the 2014 season continued as he took top-tens in both rounds.
During Saturday's Race One, James and the No. 14 Spyder / Mobil 1 / The Thermal Club machine would make great work of his sixth row start, advancing one position and in hot pursuit of the field in front of him before a full course caution would be thrown for fluid on track. Knowing that tire management was no longer an issue, the Villa Park, California resident put his focus on driving as hard as he could once racing resumed. With the green flag out, the race was on for James, who spent the entirety of his racing battling with the No. 77 Ferrari of Mike Hedlund, and the No. 8 Cadillac of Andy Pilgrim, for who James seems to be in a season-long battle with. Enjoying the back and forth, James would be scored in seventh once the checkered flag came.
For Race Two, James would find himself starting from the seventh row, confident that he had a car to move well up the field. Once the green light flashed, Sofronas was off and running, advancing to 11th by the end of the first turn and on the heels of the competitors in front of him.

Following an extended caution period for multiple incidents, James was hard at work for a top-five result once green flag conditions resumed.

Also adorning the livery will be James Sofronas in the No. 14 Spyder / The Thermal Club / Mobil 1 entry. For Sofronas, beyond the pressure of delivering in front of several Spyder guests and executives, Sonoma's 2013 marks the last race that the Villa Park, California resident scored podium points, adding extra pressure to return to his winning ways.
"Any time we can race in California it's an exciting time," stated Sofronas.

"Everyone raced incredibly clean and patient today, which allowed us all to finish on a high note," stated GMG team owner James Sofronas. "Today was all about trying to support Audi in their bid for the Manufacturer's Championship, but it just wasn't meant to be. This track unfortunately just required something that wasn't in favor of our cars, but we did all we could. We would have loved to have finished on a better note, but everything is in one piece and it's a great testament to the quality and effort of our guys."
Following Friday's car switch between James Sofronas and Andrew Palmer due to an engine change, both drivers spent the majority of Race One getting used to their machinery and learning their respective characteristics in preparation for Saturday's Race Two.

Finishing one spot behind was team owner James Sofronas in the No. 14 Spyder / Mobil 1 / The Thermal Club Audi R8 LMS ultra. Facing a similar battle to his teammate, the Villa Park, California resident quietly drove his own race throughout much of the event. Doing his best to navigate traffic and make the most of his machine, James would cross the line after a faultless run, eventually taking sixth in the season standings.
"This is such a competitive series, I'm proud of where the Pirelli World Challenge has gone," stated Sofronas.
