"It's great to be back at ... [cached]

"It's great to be back at Daytona," stated GMG team owner and driver James Sofronas.

Entering with the No. 11 Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR will be drivers Elias Sabo, Matt Halliday, and James Sofronas.
James and the entire team have done a phenomenal job getting me seat time and experience over the last year to work up to this level, and I feel very well prepared thanks to their support.
It's been a thrill working with Elias to see him develop as a driver, and with James' experience at Daytona the three of us should run pretty strong, I'm really looking forward to the opportunity.
I can't thank James and all the guys enough for this."
I've actually known James and everyone at GMG since I was 15, but it's really been in the last year that we've started to enjoy proper racing together.

GMG Racing to Debut First Ever World Challenge Audi R8 LMS at Grand Prix of Long Beach | GMG [cached]

"GMG Racing got our hands on this vehicle from Phoenix Racing in Germany less than two weeks before race day," acknowledges James Sofronas, GMG Racing president, co-founder, and lead driver. "We worked closely with SCCA officials to determine how to get the car into World Challenge spec and our crew has been implementing the modifications around the clock in preparation."

The modified Audi R8 LMS GT3 will debut in the GT Class for the April 15 World Challenge race in Long Beach. The car will be driven by the newest addition to the GMG Racing team, 2006 Grand-Am Champion Anders Hainer from Hidden Hills, California.
"GMG Racing is excited to have a quick and experienced driver such as Anders Hainer piloting the World Challenge Audi R8 LMS," noted Sofronas.
Sofronas will once again be behind the wheel of the No. 14 GMG Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car in the GT class, following up a second place podium finish during the opening weekend of the 2012 World Challenge series in St. Petersburg. Sofronas won the Long Beach event in 2009 and scored a runner up finish there last year.
"St Pete. was a bit of a disappointment as we had a strong car for the first race but couldn't capitalize with all the yellows," admitted Sofronas.
"GMG Racing is coming to the table in Long Beach with a deep lineup of drivers and vehicles that includes our usual staples plus some great debuts that promises an exciting race for us and the fans," concluded Sofronas. "We couldn't do it without the support of the great companies behind us like StopTech brakes, Mobil 1, Pirelli Tires and Endless."
"Needless to say, we want to win Long Beach," summarizes Sofronas.

Nagging Injury Sidelines Sofronas in Virginia, Halliday to Substitute | GMG [cached]

With a chronic back injury that has plagued him all season, Global Motorsports Group (GMG) principal James Sofronas has elected to sit out this weekend's triple-header for the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America at VIRginia International Raceway. Continuing the team's commitment to top-level performance, New Zealand's Matt Halliday will step in to replace James, co-driving with series' newcomer Jeffrey Cheng.

"It's disappointing for sure, but when I woke up this morning, I thought it was in the best interest of the team to sit this one out," stated Sofronas.
Following yesterday's round of practice, the fast corners and constant elevation changes proved a physical challenge for Sofronas, with the high g-loading of his No. 88 Lamborghini Huracán LP 620-2 aggravating a pre-existing injury. While the combination of Sofronas and Cheng proved formidable during the opening day's practice, the availability of Halliday made for a seamless transition to today's official practice sessions.
"Of course you hate to jump in under these circumstances, but James has been fantastic during this whole process," stated Halliday.
"It's clear with GMG that their customers and their product are their priority, and James absolutely showed that today.
