James B. Shelton, Ph.D.,is a Professor of New Testament and Early Christian Literature at Oral Roberts University.
His publications include contributions to the Complete Biblical Library (Luke 2:18-4:13, commentary and numerous articles on Greek words) and The Gospel of Matthew in the Life in the Spirit Commentary of the New Testament. He has also written numerous articles and papers for periodicals and professional societies. In 1991, Dr. Shelton's book Mighty in Word and Deed: The Role of the Holy Spirit in Luke-Acts was called "perhaps the most comprehensive study of the Holy Spirit in Luke-Acts to date. It is one of several monograph-length interactions with James D. G. Dunn's book Baptism in the Holy Spirit . Dr. Shelton is a founding member of the Glastonbury Fellowship, a Fellow with the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology, a member of the Society of Biblical Literature and the Society for Pentecostal Studies, where he serves as the Biblical Studies Group chairman.

James B. Shelton, Ph.D. received a Doctorate in Religious studies from the University of Stirling in Scotland with an area of specialty in the Gospels and Acts. He has published several contributions to the Complete Biblical Library, Mighty in Word and Deed: the Role of the Holy Spirit in Luke-Acts, The Gospel of Matthew in The Life in the Spirit Commentary on the New Testament and has published several articles papers and reviews. He is presently writing a Commentary on the Gospel of St. Luke for Sheffield Press. Dr. Shelton has served a Professor of Sacred Scripture for the Pastoral Studies Institute since 1996.
