WALKERTON, Ind. (WANE) - The Rev. James Seculoff resigned following an allegation of sexual abuse of a minor, according to a statement by the Catholic Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend.
Seculoff was the pastor at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Walkerton, about 90 miles northeast of Fort Wayne. Previously he served at St. John the Baptist in New Haven from 2007 to the middle of last year.
Seculoff was removed as the pastor in Walkerton after the diocese received what it believed to be a credible allegation of sexual abuse from an incident 44 years ago, according to a statement from the diocese.
Seculoff has been removed from the public exercise of the sacred ministry while the canonical process continues., according to the diocese. He could eventually be removed from the priesthood.
Seculoff also served in Fort Wayne and other parishes throughout northern Indiana since being ordained as a priest in 1962.
