James F. Sanft, FSA President and Chief Executive Officer: James F. Sanft began serving Concordia Plan Services (formerly Worker Benefit Plans) in January 1999. Jim has been involved in group insurance and employee benefits for the past 19 years, working for both Minnesota Life and Ameritas Life Insurance Corporation in Lincoln, Nebraska. Jim received his bachelor’s degree in education in 1985 from Concordia College, Seward, Nebraska (now Concordia University Nebraska) and received his master’s degree in mathematics and statistics in 1988 from the University of Nebraskaâ€"Lincoln. Sanft has accepted the appointment to serve as new president for the organization. Sanft will succeed Paul W. Sanft joined Concordia Plan Services in 1999 (then named Worker Benefit Plans) as the organization’s first director of actuarial services. Since that time, Sanft has held a number of positions, including co-interim executive director and most recently executive vice president and chief operating officer. In this position, Sanft oversees benefit administration/operations, information technology, products and services, and education and outreach.
“For the last nine years I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve the LCMS as part of Concordia Plan Services. I look forward to the opportunity to serve the church, and the workers of the church in this new role,†says Sanft.
Sanft has been involved in group insurance and employee benefits for the past 19 years, working for both Minnesota Life and Ameritas Life Insurance Corporation before joining Concordia Plan Services. Graduating in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in education from Concordia University, Nebraska, he taught mathematics and computer science in 1985 and 1986 at Concordia Lutheran High School in Ft. Wayne, Ind. Sanft also holds a master’s degree in mathematics and statistics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, which he earned in 1988.
He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).
Sanft, his wife Janell, and children Evan (18), Ryan (16) and Tyler (13), are members of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Sunset Hills, Mo. (02/08)
