James Paulus "Runt" Outlaw, 93, of Orme, Tenn. died April 9, 2006 in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 20, 1913.He was a longtime resident of Jackson.He graduated Jackson High School.He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He attended Auburn University where he played baseball and later went to play professional baseball for the Cincinnati Reds, the Boston Bee's, now the Atlanta Braves and the Detroit Tigers from 1942-49 where he played third base.He was a member of the 1945 Tigers Team when they won the World Series.He is a member of the All Time Syracuse Chiefs Baseball Team Wall of Fame.He was a member of the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame. After his professional baseball career, he worked for the Dairy Fresh Milk Company in Jackson.He was also a longtime member of the Jackson Civitan Club where he was an active member.
