...Dr. Macintyre received his M.D. degree from the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada.He completed a two-year fellowship in primary care sports medicine in 1986 and received his Masters Degree in exercise physiology and sports medicine from the University of British Columbia.Dr. Macintyre
was recruited to The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital
in 1992.He founded a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship and has been involved in teaching sports medicine to residents and fellows since then.He
has been involved with numerous sports medicine organizations.He has been on conference and program organizing committees for the Canadian Association of Sports Sciences, the Canadian Academy of Sports Medicine, the Canadian Ski Team Medical Group, The Freestyle Sports Medicine Conference, the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine, and The Wilderness Medical Society and has served on the board of the Canadian Association of Sports Science.
Over the years, he
has given over 130 presentations at educational conferences in 4 countries.He
has published 4 textbook chapters, 12 refereed scientific articles and over 30 scientific abstracts. Dr. Macintyre
practices full-spectrum non-operative sports medicine with a focus on musculoskeletal medicine.His
interests include prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of overuse injuries, functional lower limb biomechanics, dance medicine, optimization of athletic performance, and the role of spinal dysfunctions in injury.
