Two recent analyses indicated increased survival of Whooping Crane chicks in Wood Buffalo National Park during the years of egg removal (Ellis and Gee 2001, Lewis 2001). by Dr. James C. Lewis, Trustee, WCCA The effort to combine the plans was first led by Dr. James Lewis, co-chairman of the first International Recovery Team formed in 1995. (Dr. Lewis, now retired, serves on the Board of Trustees of the Whooping Crane Conservation Association).The recovery plan is administered by the International Whooping Crane Recovery Team consisting of 5 specialist from Canada and 5 from the U.S. A revised draft recovery plan is currently being reviewed.
