James George Jatras is a veteran government relations and public advocacy specialist whose expertise in both the public and private sectors covers a range of international and domestic issues.
With experience at two top-tier Washington-based law firms following his
government service, Jim's advocacy skills encompass the public arena and on-the-record media representation of clients as well as conventional "behind closed doors" lobbying in the corridors of power in Washington, in both the Legislative and Executive branches.
work includes representation of clients on a broad range of policy issues with concentrations in foreign policy, international security, global terrorism, international trade, and immigration, along with work in areas as diverse as appropriations, healthcare, tax, energy (including renewable), pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, security services, transportation, bioterrorism, and criminal defense.
Prior to entering the private sector, Jim served for many years at the senior staff level at the U.S. Senate Republican Policy Committee under Chairmen Bill Armstrong (CO), Don Nickles (OK) and Larry Craig (ID).
Prior to his Senate work, James served as a Foreign Service Officer with the US Department of State, serving in the Office of the Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs on issues relating to public diplomacy and international broadcasting, in the then-Office of Soviet Union Affairs, and as a consular officer in Tijuana, Baja California Norte, Mexico.
