Mr James A Hourihan
...Mr. Hourihan is the senior partner of the products liability team.His products liability experience includes mass and toxic tort litigation involving chemicals (arsenic defoliant), drugs (DES), medical devices (pacemakers), electrical and mechanical appliances, paints, and aircraft and automobile manufacturing and design defects.He has served as National Coordinating Counsel for a major U.S. automobile manufacturer with trial preparation and trial responsibilities for restraint systems, including seat belts, airbags and federal preemption.He has also served as Regional Counsel for a major U.S. pharmaceutical manufacturer. Mr. Hourihan is a graduate of Lafayette College (1958) and the University of Michigan Law School (1961) where he was a member of the Michigan Law Review and the Order of the Coif.From 1961-1963, Mr. Hourihan served as a prosecutor in the Army Judge Advocate General's Corps.Mr. Hourihan is active in the American Bar Association where he has served as Chairman of the Torts and Insurance Practice Section's Toxic and Hazardous Substances and Environmental Law Committees and Chairman of the Litigation Section's Environmental Law Committee.He has also served as a member of the Executive Committee of the International Association of Defense Counsel, State Chairman of the Defense Research Institute and a member of the Board of Directors of the Bar Association of the District of Columbia.Mr. Hourihan
has lectured on trial practice and evidence for ALI/ABA, NITA and national and local bar associations
.Mr. Hourihan is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the International Society of Barristers and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers.He is also a sustaining member of the Products Liability Advisory Council.Mr. Hourihan
