Jim counsels clients in all aspects of patent law and related licensing and strategic planning.He
is licensed to practice in Minnesota and before the U.S. Patent
and Trademark Office.Prior to becoming a patent attorney, Jim was a Patent Examiner in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in the mechanical arts for nine years.Before he was a patent examiner, Jim was a Survey Archaeologist for the State of Minnesota. Jim received a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from St. Cloud State University and in 1982 obtained his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota.Jim was employed by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as a Patent Examiner before obtaining his Juris Doctorate degree from Hamline University in 1994.Prior to joining Moore & Hansen, Jim served as Intellectual Property Counsel with a major manufacturer in Minnesota.
