This coming Sunday, we are blessed to welcome Bishop Jim Curry as our preacher and celebrant at the two morning worship services and at the 5:00 evening service. After the 9:45 service, Bishop Curry will speak at the coffee hour about the "Five Marks of Mission" of the Anglican Communion and we will have a time for questions and discussion after his talk. I have known Bishop Curry since we were in seminary together at Yale Divinity School. In recent years, we have served together on the Companions in Mission Committee of our Diocese of which I am the chair. Together we plan the annual Diocesan Missions Conference which has been a real joy for me. In recent years, Bishop Curry has been increasingly more involved in our Diocese's mission partnership with Dioceses in South America and in Africa.

Bishop Curry Announces Retirement

The Rt. Rev. James E. Curry, Bishop Suffragan, plans to retire October 1, 2014. Bishop Curry will be close to completing 14 years as bishop suffragan, the longest serving bishop suffragan in the history of the Episcopal Church in Connecticut. Bishop Curry is choosing to retire at this time in order to both spend more time with his family and also to pursue his commitments in challenging violence, especially violence in the cities of Connecticut.
