as President and CEO of ITxM
.Covert was named President and CEO of LifeSource's parent company, the Institute for Transfusion Medicine (ITxM), one of the country's largest multi-regional providers of blood product collection/distribution and related services.He
succeeds William Portman who is retiring June 30 after 20 years as President and CEO of ITxM
.Covert also will serve on the Company's Board of Directors.

the foundation needed to accelerate the company's growth and success and maintain its leadership position in the blood banking industry."Covert comes to ITxM from HealthSouth Corporation, the country's largest provider of outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation services, where he was Senior Vice President responsible for sales, marketing and development of its outpatient division.Prior to joining HealthSouth, Covert was co-founder of Keystone Marketing Associates, LLC.He also held senior-level executive positions at Horizon/CMS Healthcare Corporation, Caremark International and Baxter Healthcare Corporation.Covert
also had a very successful career in college and professional football.After an All-American career at the University of Pittsburgh, he was an All-Pro tackle and team captain for the Chicago Bears from 1983-1990.Covert received his B.A. in English from Pitt.
