"For outstanding technical contributions in well production engineering, especially multi phase flow. For over four decades of service to SPE and many other professional organizations. Biography Dr. James P. Brill joined the Petroleum Engineering faculty at The University of Tulsa in 1966 and founded the Fluid Flow Projects (1973) and Paraffin Deposition Projects (1994) research consortia. He resigned his faculty position in 2000 and currently serves as a consultant to these consortia and the Decision Review Board for Chevrons Tulsa University Center of Research Excellence. He has served as a consultant to many oil and gas companies on multiphase flow in pipes and taught related short courses in 15 countries. He has over 100 publications, many appearing in SPE Journals and is co-author of the SPE Monograph Multiphase Flow in Wells. Dr. Brill represented SPE in ABET positions (1989-2000). He previously received the SPE Production Engineering Award, Distinguished Achievement Award for Petroleum Engineering Faculty, John Franklin Carll Award, DeGolyer Distinguished Service Medal, ASME Fellow, and was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame and the National Academy of Engineering (1997). Dr. Brill holds a BS degree in Engineering from the University of Minnesota (1962) and a Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin (1966).

Jim Brill graduated from the University of Minnesota (1962) with a BS in Engineering and the University of Texas with a PhD (1966) in Petroleum Engineering.He worked for Chevron Oilfield Research Company prior to joining the faculty at The University of Tulsa where he retired in 2000.He has continued to work part time as Professor Emeritus and Research Professor of Petroleum Engineering.He formed Brill Engineering Corporation in 1977 and has consulted for many oil companies around the world.Jim was elected to the United States National Academy of Engineers in 1997 and will be inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame in October 2007.Jim is married to Marilyn and they have 3 children and 8 grandchildren.Jeff Stoermer, A.B., cum laude, Dartmouth College (1974), J.D., University of Tulsa College of Law (1979), LL.M. (Taxation), Georgetown University Law Center (1982), served three years as an attorney for the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington, D.C.He returned in Tulsa in 1982, establishing a private law practice concentrated in estate planning, business and tax planning, and tax controversies.He is past Chairman of the Tulsa County Bar's Section of Taxation, past President of the Tulsa Estate Planning Forum, Immediate Past President of the Parent Child Center of Tulsa, and Chairman of Entrepreneurs of Tulsa, Inc.He has been married to Deborah for over 30 years, and they have two children, Adam and Amanda.
