A Chartered Accountant from England and Wales, he has completed the Advanced Management Program for professionals and entrepreneurs from Harvard University, USA in 2004. He has more than 35 years of experience in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry. Mr. Hiremath established the company in 1988 and under his leadership; Hikal has grown to become one of leading life sciences companies globally. Mr. Hiremath is the Past President of the Indian Chemical Council (ICC) and the former Chairman of the Chemical Committee of the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). Mr. Hiremath is also a board member of Novartis (India) Ltd and National Safety Council (NSC) of India. Most recently he has been elected to serve as a board member of DCAT (Drug, Chemical and Associated Technology Association) headquartered in New Jersey, U.S.A.

Mr. Hiremath has been elected as Board member on The Drug, Chemical and Associated Technology Association (DCAT), for a three-year term effective, November 2011. Mr. Hiremath is the past President of the Indian Chemical Council (ICC) in 2009 and 2010 and he was the Chairman of the Chemical Committee of the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) from 2009 to 2011. He is a member of the Western Regional Council as well as the National Committee on Drugs & Pharmaceuticals and Chemicals & Petrochemicals of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII). Mr. Hiremath is a board member of National Safety Council (NSC) of India. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Indian Chemical Council (ICC) and member of the Task Force on Chemicals set up by Government of India since 2010. He is also a board member of Novartis (India) Ltd.
