KHON2 TV's Jai Cunningham shaved his head on 02/14/13 to protest domestic violence
While I was sitting in the green room, waiting to go on air, co-anchor Jai Cunningham
walked in to set me up with a microphone.
"Oh no," I thought, "He's
head (see photo above).
This means a woman or child has lost their life to domestic violence.
You see, on October 31, 2012, after a woman was killed by her
(whose family survived domestic violence when he
was growing up), made a promise on-air, to shave his
head whenever a woman or child was killed due to domestic violence here in Hawaii.
helped me attach my microphone, he
said that earlier that week, a mother, 74, and her
daughter, 45, lost their lives to domestic violence on the island of Hawaii.
Jai knows that shaving his
head won't solve the problem, but this is his
way of protesting domestic violence.
