Within minutes of shooting heroin into his body with a hypodermic needle, 22-year-old Jake Zubkoff of Monroe doubled over, in pain that was so unbearable he could barely speak.
"I think I got some bad dope," he
reportedly told a friend before 911 was called and Mr. Zubkoff
was rushed to the hospital.
Hours later he
Prosecutors say Teisha Wandt, 23, supplied the drug that killed Mr. Zubkoff
and have charged her with delivery of a controlled substance causing death.
"It is impossible to know what heroin Jake injected that night," Mr. Calkins argued before First District Judge Mark S. Braunlich.
Family members said Mr. Zubkoff
, who injected the drug three to five times a day, tried to kick the addiction but could not.
In fact, Dr. Cheryl Loewe, a deputy chief with the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office, testified that Mr. Zubkoff
died of a heroin overdose but he
also had methadone in his

Please don't get me wrong I too agree drug dealers should be locked up.
I just personally do not know Ms Wandt. however I have no doubt she
was one of the people to supply Jake
this drug and should be punished.
When I said I knew Jake
well I truly did and the last time that he
went to jail as harsh as it sounds I was just praying they would keep him long enough to get the craving out of his
My entire family watched Jake struggle with his
addiction as a matter a fact he
actually stayed with us a short time while trying to fight this illness.
This was a kid that never one time showed myself nor my husband any disrespect and it really does hurt us deeply that this kid with so much potential lost his
fight to this horrible addiction.
To A Mother thank you for your for kind words you said about Jake
