Over this past year, Mark and Jacob Henkel
have been enjoying traveling across the State of Kansas performing at town festivals and western music events.Some of their favorites include the Annual Santa Fe Trail Symposium at the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, the Cow Creek Opry in Havensville, and the Cedar Depot Memorial Celebration in Cedar.This year they have added Jacob's harmonica to many of their songs and are in the midst of releasing two new recordings: Saddles & Guitars, a collection of western favorites and a couple of new originals, and a Gospel recording of 12 inspirational favorites.Jacob Henkel is the younger member of the father-son duo, Sons of the Konza Prairie.Jacob is 16 years old and lives near Manhattan, Kansas, where he attends Flint Hills Christian School.Jacob
enjoys music, hunting, driving his
"Cowboy Cadillac," flying, and hanging out with his
friends.This year Jacob
has learned to play bass guitar and harmonica and is now taking lessons to sharpen his
skills on acoustic guitar and piano.Jacob
has won various vocal awards both in the community and at school.He is a member of the Flint Hills Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol, Kansas Wing, where he holds the rank of Cadet Chief Master Sergeant.
