Jaclynne M. Jacobs Assistant Vice President, Development RETURN TO STAFF INDEX PAGE
Jaclynne M. Jacobs has devoted more than 27 years working with not-for-profits benefiting a diversity of good causes, both as a volunteer in California and New York, and in a staff position here on LI. Hired in the spring of 1997 by the Education & Assistance Corporation (EAC, Inc.), one of the top human service agencies on LI, providing more than 70 programs to 45,000 people across Nassau and Suffolk Counties and the 5 boroughs of NYC, she serves as the Assistant Vice President, Development. In her position, Jackie works closely with individual donors, corporations and foundations throughout the area securing funds via grants, sponsorships, annual appeals and other major fund raising events and campaigns. A recipient of the agency's CEO Award for her dedication and commitment to EAC, the community and the clients they serve, her generosity of spirit, energy and passion for the work she does is evident throughout her daily activities.
Connecting EAC programs to the community, she assisted in establishing their 'Chance To Advance' initiative, matching children in foster care with one-on-one mentors, encouraging them to stay in school, set goals and engage in extra-curricular activities. Behind the scenes, she works to secure mentors, scholarship funding and create services and programmatic activities. Being very hands on, she became one of the first mentors of this program in its maiden year, and continues her commitment to work with her 10 year old mentee, helping her attain the life skills and education needed to insure a strong and successful future.
Before joining EAC, Jackie worked in many areas, including event planning & management, marketing & public relations, sales and finance, also consulting for start-up companies in all phases of operation. She began her career in fund raising as a volunteer for a number of not-for-profits, including the American Cancer Society, March of Dimes, Long Island Association for Aids Care (LIAAC), the Long Island Heart Council, and EAC, chairing major fund raisers California and NY, receiving the Long Island Heart Council's Special Recognition Award for her volunteer efforts on their behalf, and recognized by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program for Outstanding Community Service in Promoting Volunteerism.
A well respected leader in the not-for-profit arena, Jackie joined the Board of Directors of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, LI chapter (AFPLI) in 1999, helping to promote philanthropy and the advancement of development professionals. Chairing the AFPLI professional development committee since 2001, she secures speakers for their monthly meetings, and has moderated panel discussions. She has participated in AFPLI's annual Philanthropy Day as a speaker, track dean and committee member, and shares her skills, knowledge and experience by mentoring in the field of development. Jackie also sat on the Board of Pet Peeves for more than 4 years, since it's inception in 2002 through December of 2006, helping to promote their mission and create community awareness for pet therapy, humane education and spay and neutering programs.
Firmly rooted in the LI community, she continues her support of the people who live and work here by joining the annual LI Cares/Harry Chapin Food Bank Humanitarian Awards Dinner Committee in 2003; serving on the Long Island Fight for Charity Committee for the past 3 years; and the AJS Memorial Cruises for Causes Committee, and LIE's Annual Masquerade Ball Planning Committee since early 2006.
