Appointed To Fill Vacant Council Seat With Unanimous Vote

The four member Council voted unanimously in favor of appointing Jack Lynch
as the fifth council member.
The Council voted unanimously to appoint local resident Jack L. Lynch
to fill the seat.The name that began circulating in rumors as a possible candidate only a few days prior to the meeting. Jack
wife Tamsie, parents of six children, built their home in the Wilmington Beach section of Carolina Beach
in 1996. Mrs. Lynch explained that she and her husband began visiting Carolina Beach as children when their parents would take summer vacations.She
stated, "We love the family atmosphere and community feeling."Mr. Lynch
was born on January 21st, 1936 in Easley South Carolina. He
was raised in Roxboro, NC and spent four years serving in the U.S. Coast Guard
.In addition, Mr. Lynch attended N.C. State University. Mr. Lynch worked for forty-two years with Telerent Leasing Corporation of Raleigh and retired in June of 2001.He served 15 years as president and CEO before retirement.Telerent
provides complete room, public area furnishings and design for hotels and motels throughout the USA. During Mr. Lynch's
time as President, the company recorded annual sales of approximately 200 million dollars. Telerent
also owns Telehealth Services which provides T.V's, patient education systems, and satellite equipment to 40% of the US hospital market and held an 80% share of the hospital TV market in Canada prior to it's sale several years ago.Mr. Lynch
negotiated the sale of Telerent
to the Itochu Corporation of Japan
in 1989.He still serves Telerent as a consultant and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors.He is also actively involved in real estate investments in Carolina Beach, is a previous part owner of five Holiday Inns in Myrtle Beach and Oxford, NC, and was the Managing General Partner that developed and operated the Hilton in Durham, NC.Mr. Lynch is also an active member of the First Baptist Church of Carolina Beach as Trustee, Deacon, Co/Treasurer, and is Chair of the Facilities Task Force.
On December 9th, Mr. Lynch
feelings regarding his
appointment to the Council by stating, "I am honored to have the opportunity to work with the Council and will do the best job for the citizens in a harmonious way."Mrs. Lynch
never meets a stranger", explaining that her
husband is a friend to everyone.She addressed the perceived issues confronting the Council in the months ahead by stating, "There may be a lot of political waves at Carolina Beach but Jack is the guy who can put the surf board on top of those waves."
Commenting on a recent newspaper article which appeared in the Wilmington Star News
, Mr. Lynch
stated, "The newspaper said the vacant seat would be a hot seat, I see it as a seat of opportunity to serve the community in a harmonious way."
