Mercy to Honor Jack and Barbara Aalfs With Dr. George G. Spellman Annual Service Award

The Mercy Medical Center Foundation has announced that Jack and Barbara Aalfs will be this year's recipient of the Dr. George G. Spellman Annual Service Award.
"Few people have been more involved in serving others in their community than Barbara and Jack Aalfs," said Lea Clausen, executive director of the Mercy Medical Center Foundation. Jack Aalfs, chief executive officer of Aalfs Manufacturing, has served on the boards of Iowa Public Service (now MidAmerican Energy), Norwest Bank, and the Siouxland Community Foundation. Aalfs was largely considered the first businessperson to buy and restore a building on Sioux City's historic Fourth Street, and is often credited as being a primary catalyst in the area's redevelopment and restoration.
