Because many of the individuals on the Spectrum improve and live into teenage and young adult years, it is important for us to be increasingly aware that they face usual social development factors from their own unique adaptability context. Florida Frenz is the pen name of a 16-year-old high school student. She was diagnosed with autism at age 3, but after much intensive therapy currently attends high school without any special services. Commenting about her experiencing the "nightmare" of teenage years in high school, Florida Frenz says something very interesting and hopefully insightful for all of us. She states, "we autistics are actually in good company.

Brain SPECT imaging not only enables us to ask better questions of the patient and his/her concerns because the SPECT scan discovers comorbidities by direct visualization of brain function activity. "We can now see the brain areas that have unexpectedly increased or decreased function and which relate to the clinical signs and symptoms that patients are experiencing and suffering."
This brain function information leads to our creating "targeted therapies," that is, therapies based upon directly observable brain function, rather than the indirect evidence based solely upon patients' symptomatology," Dr Uszler explained.
