After reviewing several applicants and interviewing some of the prospects that Rev. Waymon Pritchard of the Raleigh Rescue Mission submitted, it became apparent that J. C. Jones was the strongest prospect.

Rev. Jones was a graduate of the Baptist Theological Seminary at Wake Forest, North Carolina.He served, for the previous five years, as Pastor of Quankie Baptist Church near Roanoke Rapids.Rev. Jones said he wanted the job and came to direct the Mission with high recommendations by local ministers.This was the beginning of a long, happy, and productive association between the Mission and Rev. J. C. Jones, a modest, dedicated, and much-loved man.
