If it were as simple as Ivy Renfroe
would have you believe, then every home would have one of the country's top freshman softball pitchers.
All a teenage girl would have to do is bow her
head, raise her
arms and scream, "I believe!"
I know that," Renfroe
has three years left.
Earning the POY honor for a second straight year, Renfroe
took a record-breaking eighth-grade season and obliterated the numbers.
-In 2005, she
led the Lady Lions to a third-place state finish, which was a record at the school.This time TCA's
efforts were wrapped in gold.
-She turned an 18-8 record into 24-2.She
took a 1.42 ERA and shaved off an entire point to a ridiculous 0.40.Her
strikeouts went from 194 in 163 innings to 247 in 161.
Did we mention the 10 no-hitters and two perfect games?Consider it done.
-Renfroe does more than pitch, too.Last year she
hit .382; this year it was .478 with an amazing 63 RBIs.

"I get a lot of attention, mostly because I'm the pitcher on a really good team," Renfroe
...Trailing 1-0 in the seventh inning, Renfroe - who had the team's first hit in the fifth with a double - blasted a solo home run off the Lady Bulldogs' outstanding pitcher Emily Ford to tie the score.
Throwing the final 17 innings of the tournament, Renfroe
led the team last weekend to the Fireworks Tournament championship in Broomfield, Colo.
"There were expectations this year on us, and we did just fine because we didn't worry about that stuff and just worried about playing the game," Renfroe
