Presenter: Isadore Toulouse Isadore Bebamikawe Toulouse
is from the Wikwemikong Unceded First Nation.Currently, he
is teaching with the York Region District School Board
in Southern Ontario.He
teaches Ojibwe language and Culture to 3 elementary schools every morning and then High School every afternoon.He is also a part time instructor at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario and for the month of July during the last 12 years he has been teaching with the Native Language Instructors Program at Lake Head University in Thunder Bay, Ontario.He
has written a couple of books in the language and currently on other material for classroom use.Isadore is the President of Anishinaabemowin-Teg and is very instrumental and well known in the preservation and revitalization of the language in Canada and the United States.He is also President for Anishnawbe Health of Toronto. Isadore
will be talking about the many issues and challenges pertaining to the preservation of the language.The do's and don'ts to teaching a language program with the education system and what the requirements are for such a program.He
will also talk about the dynamics to teaching this language and its rewards with a short presentation on simple teaching strategies.
