Executive Director
Dr. Schechter, a recognized leader in emotional and behavioral health care in the Jewish community, is a clinical psychologist and Director of The Center for Applied Psychology (CAPs) at Bikur Cholim in Monsey New York. As director he has created a behavioral health center of excellence known for its professionalism and cultural sensitivity in addressing the needs of the Orthodox, Ultra-orthodox and Chassidish Jewish population. The array of CAPs services include a licensed behavioral health clinic, school based counseling in yeshivas, educational programming for Rabbonim, educators, clinicians, and the community at large, child safety services, and cutting edge treatment technology.
He has most recently launched the Institute for Applied Research and Community Collaboration (ARCC), a unique institute whose mission is to conduct, analyze and disseminate rigorous research on psychiatric, psychological and social issues of the frum community in an effort to empirically base and guide decision making, resource allocation and program development.
Dr. Schechter lectures internationally and has published many articles on topics of psychology, religion, and the religious community. His clinical work and research findings on mental health and the Orthodox Jewish community have been a catalyst for positive change in the attitudes and service utilization in the Jewish community.

Dr. Isaac Schechter, Director Dr. Isaac Schechter, the Director of Rockland TMS & Wellness Center, is a clinical psychologist and Director of the Center for Applied Psychology (CAPs) at Bikur Cholim in Rockland County, NY.  He served as a research scientist in the department of Cognitive Neurophysiology and Schizophrenia at the Nathan Kline Institute for nearly ten years.  Dr. Schechter  has  published many clinical and research articles and book chapters on a variety of topics ranging from clincial neurophysiology, visual processing and topics in clinical psychology including trauma and spirituality.  In addition, he has supervised many clinicians, lectures widely and maintains a private practice.

Dr. Isaac Schechter, Clinical Psychologist and Director of CAPS, initiated the event to offer clinicians working with brain-injured clients in the community a comprehensive overview of the physical, cognitive and emotional basics of TBI (traumatic brain injury). Dr. Schechter worked with BINA's director, Chavie Glustein, and Director of Crisis Intervention, Moshe Borowski, LMSW to arrange the seminar.

But Isaac Schechter, director of the Center for Applied Psychology at the Bikur Cholim health center in Monsey, N.Y., home to a large, strictly Orthodox community, cited indications that even in this sector, attitudes were changing. Schechter said had seen a 500% increase in the number of clients during the past five years, about 65% of whom are strictly Orthodox.
