resignation for health reasons as Rector and Pastor of St. Andrew's Anglican Church
after almost 9 years of service to the community. Iris and Bert wish to confirm their intentions to continue living and working in service to St. Andrew's Anglican Church and the Lakeside Community.

History of Grace Church
On October 18, 1989, the formal installation of Iris R. Slocombe
as eighteenth rector of Grace Church
was held with the Rt.
On October 7, 1989 Iris Slocombe
began an annual Blessing of the Pets.
presented a six-week series on the Middle East in an Adult Education Class.She
also offered special programs on the Tuesday evenings in Lent.The Reverend Iris Slocombe was elected to the Commission on Ministry for the diocese and Dean of the Emrich Convocation.
With funds provided by a $50,000 loan from the diocese, a grant from the diocese, and loans and donations from members of the church, a combination of professionals and volunteers set to work, and on August 10, 1991 Iris Slocombe
and her husband, Bert, moved into the refurbished rectory.
...Iris Slocombe served on the committee for the restructuring of the Diocese of Michigan.
July brought sad news to the parish with Iris Slocombe's
announcement of her
retirement as rector to be effective on October 31, 1995.She has been an exceptional leader for Grace Church.
Many efforts to restore our facilities have been completed under her
direction - and successfully financed!More than that she
has brought healing to the parish and a sense of belonging to the family of God.
