Irene Klar November 6-30: Peggotty Christensen, Irene Klar, & Antonio Bartczak Wearable Art November 6- 30: Peggotty Christensen, Irene Klar & Antonio Bartczak Wearable Art As part of SGA's Wearable ArtWalk, Duley-Jones Gallery will feature the work of Peggotty Christensen and Irene Klar.A reception for the artists will be held on Thursday, November 6 from 7 to 9 pm.Their work will remain on display throughout the month of November.Pegotty Christensen, an Arizona fabric and clothing designer, hand-paints her flowing dresses, kimono-like jackets, and scarves."My designs have always been influenced by nature and art--everything from ancient pottery and jewelry to designs on bed sheets" says Christensen. She often utilizes a technique called devore, which is a chemical burnout of fabric, to achieve the rich texture of her designs.Irene Klar, a watercolor artist, has always been intrigued by textiles. She says "They have provided inspriation for my career as a painter and printmaker."Her watercolor paintings reflect this fascination with fabric and design, focusing on patterns of the garments her subjects wear. Her new line of silk jackets and scarves continues the tradition with her watercolor images beautifully hand-painted on fabric.
