Dr. Irene B. Giessl is a licensed psychologist in private practice.
Her Master's Degree and Doctorate are in Clinical Counseling from the University of Cincinnati . She is a graduate of the Gestalt Institute of Cincinnati Training Program, as well as a Third Year Post-graduate Training Program in Couples, Families, and Intimate Systems of the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland .
Dr. Giessl has received EMDR Level I and Level II Training from Dr. Francine Shapiro, developer of the method.

has worked extensively with trauma, anxiety, bereavement, and addictions in individual and group settings.

In addition to her Psychologist License and EMDR certification, Dr. Giessl is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and a member of the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC).
She belongs to the American Psychological Association , Ohio Psychological Association, Cincinnati Academy of Professional Psychology , Cincinnati Psychological Association , EMDR International Association , International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies , International Critical Incident Stress Foundation , and is a diplomate and member of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress .
In 1997, Dr. Giessl and business partner Dr. Barbara Hensley conceived of and developed the Cincinnati Trauma Connection (CTC) in response to the increased community need for psychological trauma assistance and education.
Dr. Giessl received Critical Incident Stress Debriefing training from Roger Solomon, Ph.D., (Mitchell Model) and Atle Dyregrov, Ph.D., (European model), and Psychotraumatology training from George Everly, Ph.D.
