ICDP Commissioner Ioanna Kucuradi participated at the 3rd Jakarta Human Rights Dialogue on Rights to Life and Moratorium of Death Penalty in the ASEAN Region (JHRD) on 10 and 11 November 2014 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The JHRD was organised by the European Union
(EU) and the UN's
Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and hosted by the Indonesia's Representative to the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission for Human Rights
The two-day event had speakers including the EU
Special Representative for Human Rights Stavros Lambrinidis
, UN Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial, Summary or Arbitrary Executions Christof Heyns and several human rights experts representing the OHCHR, international and national organisations including many from the ASEAN
Moreover, ICDP Commissioner Ioanna Kucuradi met with Director General for Multilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Ambassador Hasan Kleib on 11 November to discuss issues related to the death penalty in the country.

Ioanna Kuçuradi studied Philosophy at the University of Istanbul.
She started her career as an Assistant Professor at the University of Istanbul.
After receiving her PhD in 1965, she became Assistant Professor at the Atatürk University in Erzurum.
In 1968, she went lecturing at the Hacettepe University in Ankara and founded the Department of Philosophy, where she taught as a professor for several decades.
She was also the Founding Director of the Centre for Research and Application of the Philosophy of Human Rights, Hacettepe University, which was established in 1997.
is a holder of a UNESCO Chair on Philosophy and Human Rights since 1998.
In 2006, Ioanna Kuçuradi was appointed professor of Philosophy and Director of the Centre for Research and Application of Human Rights at the Maltepe University in Istanbul.
Among the numerous honours received figure the Prize of the Turkisch Academy of Sciences
(1996), Grosses Verdienstkreuz des Verdienstordens der Bundesrepublik Deutschland (2001), Honourable Mention UNESCO Human Rights Education Prize (2002) and the UNESCO Aristotle Medal (2003)
Ioanna Kuçuradi is a member of several associations and bodies, such as the Afro-Asian Philosophy Association (Vice-President for Asia), the High Advisory Council for Human Rights in Turkey (Chairperson, 1994-1996) and the International Academy of Humanism (New York).
She was also a Founding Member of the Parliament of Cultures (Ankara) and a member of the National Advisory Council for Human Rights (2002-2005).
furthermore acted as the Chairperson of the National Committee of the World Decade for the Education of Human Rights
from 1998 until 2005.
