Ichiro Otokozawa Senior Director Tokyo Ichiro Otokozawa joined Advent International in 2007 from Alix Partners, a global restructuring, consulting and financial advisory firm, where he was a senior director.He has 27 years of experience working for major Japanese corporations in a variety of roles including senior management, finance and accounting.Prior to Alix, Ichiro spent nine years with Santen Pharmaceutical Company, the largest Japanese manufacturer of ophthalmic medicines.He joined Santen in 1997 as general manager and rapidly advanced to the position of corporate officer, in charge of the business development division as well as administration, covering all corporate functions.In 2004, he was promoted to senior corporate officer and CFO, responsible not only for corporate development and administration but also the US and EU businesses.
In this role, he
spearheaded a significant improvement in the group's financial performance and turned the loss-making US and EU businesses into profitable operations.He was named a member of Santen's board of directors in 2005. Prior to joining Santen, Ichiro was with Japanese steel company NKK Corporation for 18 years.He initially worked in the accounting area for five years and subsequently became a member of the team that evaluated, negotiated and closed the $300 million acquisition of National Steel Corporation.In 1990, he was seconded to National Steel in the US as a manager of finance and helped lead its successful IPO on the New York Stock Exchange in 1993.After four and a half years, he returned to NKK's corporate headquarters in Japan and became a senior manager in the comptroller's department. Ichiro received a BA in economics from Keio University.
