Ian Rae, CEO
Ian Rae is the founder and CEO of CloudOps, a cloud computing consulting firm that provides multi-cloud solutions for software companies, enterprises and telecommunications providers. Ian is also the founder of cloud.ca, a Canadian cloud infrastructure as a service (IaaS) focused on data residency, privacy and security requirements. He is a partner at Year One Labs, a lean startup incubator, and is the founder of the Centre cloud.ca in Montreal. Prior to clouds, Ian was responsible for engineering at Coradiant, a leader in application performance management.

Ian Rae, CEO Ian Rae is a partner at Bitcurrent and the founder of Syntenic, an high-end managed service provider focused on hybrid IT architectures and cloud computing. He is also a founding partner at Year One Labs, and the creator of the largest technology co-working space in Montreal. Ian ran the engineering team at Coradiant, and was the CIO of Canderel Investments. He also consults to both investors and startups involved in the application delivery space. He holds a B.Sc., with honors, from McGill University in his hometown of Montreal, Canada, where he plays ultimate frisbee to unwind, and blogs casually at Infreemation.

Ian Rae, CEO of Cloudops, said "ShapeBlue's contribution allows service providers to offer 'Containers-as-a-Service' for their customers (similar to AWS ECS) based on Apache CloudStack.
Ian Rae, founder and CEO of CloudOps, said given the trends in data consumption, there will be challenging times ahead for networks.
"There's a bit of a network Armageddon in play," he said. "It's getting a little scary 10 years out. Rae laid out two steps in working with customers when addressing the network challenge. "Executives understand [the economics] from a cost centre perspective, but not necessarily from a topline, competitive perspective," stated Rae. "They look at ways to drive revenue, reduce costs, and increase profitability and shareholder value." Ian Rae, CEO, CloudOps Ian Rae, CEO, CloudOps Cost-centered economics doesn't drive cultural change, he added. "It's about how to connect the dots. Agility will not come unless cultural change comes from the top. But the actual change happens in the trenches." Risk mitigation is another key factor to consider, Rae said.
